The biological sub-discipline of zoology (ancient Greek "zoon" = animal) deals in all respects with the animals. These include structure, developmental history, appearance, reproduction, habitat, life processes, heredity and the behavior of animal organisms. Rarely therefore is spoken of "animal science".
